The Newfound Area Has It All -- A scenic waterfall, unusual rock formations, a pristine gem of a lake, a mountain hike and much more make the Newfound Lake Area a great destination.

Paradise Point Nature Center
Unless you know how to find this wonderful little nature center, you will miss it! Located on North Shore Road (1 mile west of Rte. 3A) in Hebron, Paradise Point sits on the shores of beautiful Newfound Lake. With two parcels of land and five walking trails, this is a great place for a leisurely nature lover's hike. An interpretive building with displays and natural history programs is also offered. For hours and admission charge call 744-3516 or 224-9909.

Profile Falls
To reach this well-hidden waterfall, travel Route 3A south from Bristol (Newfound Lake area) towards Franklin. About five miles from Bristol village on Route 3A, you'll see a town line marker dividing Hill and Bristol at a stone bridge. Take a left directly before the marker onto Profile Falls Road. Follow this road a short distance until you see a marker sign on the right saying Profile Falls. Park beside the road here and take the trail near the sign which will lead down a steep path, through a wooded area, and then down a very steep path to beautiful Profile Falls.

Profile Falls is part of Smith River, and like everything in this hidden spot, the falls evoke a feeling of times past. If you look hard, and the water is flowing just right over the falls, you will see a human profile cut in the rock; thus the name Profile Falls.

This area dates back to Indian times, and it's fun to sit on one of the huge boulders near the falls and dream about the early settlers and Native Americans who probably once camped here.

Bring a picnic lunch and a camera, because this is a very scenic spot. With sandwiches, cold drinks, a blanket and a good book, there are few places more relaxing and peaceful than Profile Falls on a sunny summer or autumn day.

Sculptured Rocks
Located in Groton, between NH Routes 3A and 118, this unusual site is two miles west of Groton village. There is picnicking here, so plan to bring food and don't forget your camera. This is a unique area of potholes eroded into curious shapes by waterborne stones and sediments. On a hot day it's a great place to picnic, photograph the water and rocks, and simply relax with a good book in a shaded area. Plenty of parking and picnic tables nearby make this an ideal spot.

Round Top
A short hike up Round Top leads the hiker to breathtaking views of Bristol and the Newfound area. From Bristol take Route 3A south and turn right at the fork in the road just past the Federated Church. Continue on the road until it becomes a dirt road. Soon you'll turn into a road with parking spaces and a big lodge. Near the lodge, trails lead up to the top of the mountain. Atop this mountain the hiker will be delighted to discover an outdoor cathedral area, with log benches and a huge wooden cross silhouetted against a backdrop of the Newfound area. This is a tranquil and beautiful spot. Please remember to leave the area as clean and sacred as you found it.
